- live art venue

(Heidi Laura, in: weekendavisen, 2007)

THE PROJECT
For a period now, I’ve been studying and working on ‘forced movements’ in live-art and in photography. It’s a study of how a seemingly relaxed body can be manipulated , moved and frozen by an outer force.

How it can be moved and stretched into different forms and shapes. Seeing how this will resolve into the movement it has to make and the result of the images at the end.

How does a body move and freezes as it’s been pulled, pushed and restrained in different ways?

In this way I want to create non-natural forms and images. To do so, I want to work on a double project; a liveperformance and a serial of photographic images. Niko Raes 2009

WORKSHOPS (Part 1-3)
In these workshops I want to give people the opportunity to experience and learn about performance, endurance, perception and self-control. It will be a search on how to know your own body and how to use it as a medium, on how a body in distress can be beautiful and how these contradictions can work.In each part we will be working with different themes (as listed below).
These themes will be a guideline we use in exercises and performances in front of the camera and your co-participants, who will generate as an audience. Every workshop will be documented and at the end of the series, every participant will receive a dvd from the workshop(s) they were in.
