This time with a new project:
Queer Performance in a Time of Polycrisis is an interdisciplinary dialogue series in which Warehouse9 wishes to investigate different strategies for queer performance practice in collaboration with The Museum of Human Achievement (MoHA) in Austin, Texas. The dialogue series stems from a global context of increased hostility and escalating conflict, where LGBTQIA+ communities, both historically and currently, are targets of this. Through conversations with international and local artists, curators, and culture practitioners, we wish to exchange and share our practice from this context targeted at queer artists in Denmark and Texas. We base this on our own strategy, which is the creation and conceptualisation of Warehouse9’s archive. An archive intended to bring value to the relational and serve as an object and gathering point for the works and shared histories that have shaped Warehouse9’s practice from 2007 onwards. It will make otherwise fleeting relationships visible, highlight the underrepresentation of queer artists in institutional archives, and contextualise Warehouse9 as the longest-running arts organisation focusing on queer art and culture in Denmark. The archive is also chosen as a strategy to cement Warehouse9’s work as a locally anchored art and community project that has undergone a development reflecting two decades of Copenhagen’s urban development and gentrification. The international dialogue with MoHA is therefore important due to our established relationship and artistic practices, which stem from, among other things, a shared focus on local anchoring and community. The dialogue series will be published in several stages, first with a public dialogue event in Austin, and furthermore, we will produce an audio piece that documents and distributes parts of the event and subsequent reflections.

Austin-based panelists will include:

Beth Schindler (Lez B In Touch, President of MASS Gallery)

KC Shepherd Coyne (Chair of Austin’s LGBTQIA+ Quality of Life Advisory Commission)

Claudia Zapata (Associate Curator of Latino Art, Blanton Museum of Art)

Andie Flores (@bidibidibummer)

Reneiss Garcia (OneOfAFind)

Victoria (myonlinebedroom)

Copenhagen-based panelists will include:

Andreas Haglund

Linh Le

This project is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, Texas Commission on the Arts, Danish Arts Foundation, as well as a grant from Austin Arts, Culture, Music, and Entertainment.

2025 Opdateret fra anden runde af kunstnere:
flere opdateringer kommer ved udgangen af 2025, når kunstnerne har afsluttet deres udvekslingsophold.

Udvalgte kunstnere:
Andreas Haglund (DK)
VICTORIA (USA)
