DESCRIPTION:Warehouse9 (Copenhagen\, Denmark)\, Unlisted Projects (Austin\, TX) and The Museum of Human Achievement (Austin\, Texas) have come together to offer a residency exchange of one artist from Texas and one artist from Denmark. This international residency opportunity is intended for queer artists working within live performance and designed to support network building\, the creation and sharing of new work in an international context. Residents are given the time\, space\, freedom and financial support to concentrate upon the development of their own work. This residency programme is funded and has a fixed duration of one month. This residency opportunity will be awarded following an open call and application process. Residency artists will be selected in partnership with participating organizations and host a public sharing of work created during their residency at both their host and home organization. \n\nThe purpose of this residency programme is to support artistic development and facilitate cultural exchange\, and long-term connections between artists\, organizations and the greater communities of Texas and Denmark. SUMMARY:OPEN CALL: QUEER PRACTICE
DESCRIPTION:HIMHERANDIT Productions (Aarhus) and Warehouse9 (Copenhagen) have (finally!) come together to offer opportunities to support queer performance practice in Denmark. Both organisations have a key interest in ensuring queer artists’ practice is cared for and represented in the greater performing arts landscape in Denmark. This open call is a first-step in our collaboration and will offer an opportunity to support practice between Aarhus and Copenhagen over a period of 6 months. The residency’s primary focus is on supporting practice through a research & development framework created by the organisations festivals\, which includes a residency period in Aarhus\, peer-to-peer mentorship\, ongoing dialogue and participation in the festivals in the spring of 2024. \nThe open call offers up to 4 weeks residency in Aarhus to 1 professional queer artist/company (consisting of 1-2 persons) within the performing arts\, living and working in denmark. \nDeadline for submission: 11th December 2023 at 23.59pm

We will be singing popular songs and in order to make the sessions more accessible\, we will not be working from music sheets and will not restrict vocals to gender or voice type. \nQueer Community Singing Group is a pilot initiative which began in spring 2023 and will continue into the autumn over the course of five Saturdays in September and October. It is preferable but not a requirement that you can attend all five sessions. \nQueer Community Singing Group is free to participate\, but we ask that you RSVP. There is room for 25 people in each session: 20 spots can be booked online and 5 spots will be accessible at the door on the day at a first come\, first serve principle. \nWe suggest that you bring your own water bottle to keep yourself hydrated during the session. \n  \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nJosh Herring (he/him) is a songwriter and performer\, with a background in composition and community music. There is room for 25 people in each session: 20 spots can be booked online and 5 spots will be accessible at the door on the day at a first come\, first serve principle. \nWe suggest that you bring your own water bottle to keep yourself hydrated during the session. \n  \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nJosh Herring (he/him) is a songwriter and performer\, with a background in composition and community music. He runs several choirs in Copenhagen\, having moved here in 2018. He fell in love with choirs in the UK\, in Birmingham\, where he worked with The Choir With No Name – a choir for people who have experienced homelessness. The passion of its members and the strength of the community that singing together created\, literally helped people to change their lives. \nAfterwards\, he started working with choirs inside prisons to be able to provide an engaging and creative community in a difficult environment. Whatever the setting\, singing together has the ability to change people’s lives and strengthen communities. \n  \nACCESS \nQueer Community Singing Group is accessible to all voice types.\nPlease note that the main language for the session will be English.  \nKU.BE Lab is located at the top of KU.BE and can be accessed via elevator. There are wheelchair-accessible toilets on the ground floor. Accessible parking spots are located at the front entrance of the venue. \nPlease note that KU.BE is a public space and it can be quite busy on Saturdays. The rehearsal room\, Lab\, will\, however\, be closed for public interference. \nAs always\, Warehouse9 strives toward securing safer spaces for our community. \n

Simply come by and drop-in. \nCafé Queerlands (13:00-15.00) \nA pop-up café and open space during queerlands. A place for conversation\, to hang out\, read a book\, play board games\, etc\,. \nWe will have a basic non-alcoholic bar.\nFilter coffee and tea are free. \nQueer Community Singing Group (16:00-18:00) \nCome and warm up your vocal chords with Queer Community Singing Group. For Queerlands we invite people to a drop-in session.
