SUMMARY:Bat Calligraphy: Calligraphy Workshop
DESCRIPTION:We will paint the spectograms of bats with ink. A spectogram is the visualization of bat sounds. The spectograms look like lines but vary in their form. The art of calligraphy says that you can practice all your life doing one line. One line is very rich just like the one sound of a bat. While we paint\, we will listen to their screams and see their screams portrayed on a screen. \nThis space will be a concentrated room where we can go deep into a meditative state of repetition.  \nInk and paper will be provided. \n  \nWho can participate? This workshop series is open to everyone. We ask that children are accompanied by an adult carer. There is a maximum number of participants per workshop\, we therefore ask the you RSVP in good time to secure a space. \nAccessibility: Warehouse9 has level free entrance to the space and an accessible toilet that can be accessed via a certified stairlift.\nAll events at Warehouse9 are considered “relaxed”. We operate with a safer space policy and will not tolerate any form of discrimination. \nCan I participate in more than one workshop? Yes! Feel free to participate in 1\, 3\, or 5! \nWho will facilitate the workshops? Artist\, long-eared-bat ambassador and climate activist Linh Le. You can read more about her in her bio below. \nLanguage: English / Danish – depending on needs of the group. \nPlease Note: Warehouse9 is housed in an old factory building. We recommend that you wear warm clothes. \n  \nMuch of the methods and knowledge about bats that will be explored during this workshop series come from Linh Le’s participation in the CopenhAustin residency and as a volunteer at Austin Bat Refuge \n  \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nLinh Le is a performance artist and climate activist.
