Warehouse9 has invited 8 fantastic artists who are each offering 5 individual one-hour support sessions in May – June. Sessions are informal and led by the artist seeking support. This is an opportunity to connect with another artist and talk about anything from new artistic ideas, to your artistic process, to challenges in navigating this world as an artist…etc.
Stine Marie Jacobsen works on long term participatory projects with a focus in law, violence, film, language and gender, she creates platforms for critical thinking and new ways of looking at ethics, identity, fear and trust.
INTRODUCTION FROM STINE MARIE JACOBSEN
Stine Marie Jacobsen is a conceptual artist working to decode violence and law both individually and collectively through participatory means. She lives and works in Copenhagen and Berlin, graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts with an MFA in 2009 and a BFA from CalArts, the California Institute of the Arts, Los Angeles, USA in 2007. In order to give participants a collaborative and dialogical space, Jacobsen creates open structured sociocultural and participatory projects with clearly defined themes. With a focus in themes such as film, language, gender, violence, death, taboos, anonymity, psychology, the artist conducts performative experiments and creates platforms for critical thinking and new ways of looking at ethics, identity, control, fear and trust.
My speciality is in performance, participation and the genre socially engaged art, but I am open to meet anyone who think they can benefit from an online visit with me.
WHO IS THE SESSION FOR?
This is a free service that we offer to artists and artworkers at any stage in your career.
No idea is too small. These sessions are intended to support you by offering an opportunity to talk about anything from artistic ideas, project development, contexts for your 3work and challenges in navigating this world as an artist.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE SESSION?
This is a one hour session. This is an opportunity to be connect with and be supported by an experienced artist in a 1-to-1 format. Everything spoken about in the meeting is confidential.
The session is led by you (the artist seeking support). This means that you lead the direction of the session. We recommend coming prepared, with a clear idea of why you are seeking support.
We recommend reading the artists introduction before booking. The artists hosting the sessions have different experiences, knowledge and expertise, and your experience will vary based on the person you meet. The artist hosting the session can only speak from their work and embodied experiences.
HOW ARE THE SESSIONS DELIVERED? WHAT ACCESS SUPPORT DO YOU OFFER?
The sessions are primarily delivered online via ZOOM (unless stated otherwise). Our Zoom account can access Otter.ai captions embedded and we can offer other access support upon request. Please indicate any access requirements when you book your session.
