Qlab & Qspace

Introduction: Qlab, Qspace, and a new organisational structure

May 2026

Qlab and Qspace – new expressions, same mission

Warehouse9 has since 2007 been shaped by a practice where the curatorial profile coexists with community activities. An organisational practice driven by a vision to secure queer artists’ rights to space, time and representation, which has inscribed us in the national and international context of queer art and activism.

We want to mark this practice by introducing two new expressions that emphasize how Warehouse9 stands on two legs:

Qlab: a queer art lab focused on artists and their development

Qspace: a queer art and culture space geared towards community activities

Warehouse9’s activities are shaped by the relationship between Qlab and Qspace. This relational collaboration is vital because it allows us to create an inclusive framework for queer artists and culture workers to experiment, develop and produce art, and build community. Additionally, Warehouse9 has an artistic programme with international activities, including IPAF, which are determined seasonally and created in collaboration with institutions and other partners.

We are introducing Qlab and Qspace to highlight our living history and practice. From our inception in Copenhagen’s Meatpacking district to our next chapter in Vanløse. Here, for nearly 20 years, artists and culture workers have woven themselves in and out of our spaces, shaping Warehouse9 into what it is today, and what it will be in the future.

New organisational structure

In the leadership team, Jørgen Callesen, Artistic Director, is joined by Kasper Daugaard Poulsen, who from 2026 assumes the role of Chair of the Board at Warehouse9.

Kasper is a dancer, performer, installation artist, and stage director. He served as Vice Chair of the Danish Arts Foundation’s Committee for Performing Arts Project Funding and as a member of the Music Dramatic Arts Committee from 2014 to 2017, as well as a member of the Aarhus Arts Council from 2018 to 2021. In addition, he is a board member of Aarhus Theatre, Chair of SCENATET – an ensemble for art and music, and a member of the Dramaturgical Council for Horsens Theatre Festival. In 2026, he completed a board governance programme at Aarhus Business Academy.

In the daily operations of Warehouse9, Sarah Wegeberg joins as producer and head of communications. She has an MA in Theatre- and performance studies from University of Copenhagen (2023) with a focus on queer dramaturgy, performance ontologies, and communications. She has worked with several queer theatre and performance groups across both independent and institutional contexts. Sarah has collaborated with Warehouse9 on a freelance basis since 2023, where she has worked as part of the IPAF Festival team in 2024 and 2026 from the production and communications side and later on as residency and outreach producer for Warehouse9’s artistic development programmes and artists in residence.

In addition, technicians, producers and other staff contribute on a freelance basis to create and develop the unique framework of Qlab and Qspace.
