Daydream Dialogues: Poetic Sanctuaries – Artist in residence under the Huskunstnerordning
Daydream Dialogues: Poetic Sanctuaries is a site-responsive art project exploring how we create temporary sanctuaries in the city. During four weekends in October and November 2026, Peter Vadim and Warehouse9 will host workshops across Copenhagen. Participants will build and map sanctuaries, creating encounters that challenge the norms of public spaces.
The project combines Gaston Bachelard’s theories of poetic space with hands-on creative methods, turning the city into a space for daydreams, safety, and community. We invite you to dream out loud and create spaces that reflect us, as Bachelard writes: “we are all poets when we dream ourselves into the secrets of space.”
The process follows 5 phases inspired by Bachelard:
- Friction: Explore the landscape: Find places that feel unfriendly or overlooked.
- Resonance: Choose a “blind spot” location that feels safe/inviting. Describe it using the senses (“What does it sound like?”).
- Abjection: Transform the location using onsite materials (branches, stones, atmospheres, the body).
- Imagination: Daydream.
- Archive: Document the sanctuaries (photos, audio, text, mapping, movement).
Who can join?
18–25-year-olds and their families/friends/close ones. Primarily from rainbow families, but open to everyone.

About the artist
Peter Vadim works with sensory and participatory art set in landscapes and urban spaces. His practice explores how temporary structures emerge through encounters between chaos, imagination, and the body. Inspired by ecological thinking, emergent processes, and poetic methods, he creates situations where people, places, and materials collectively rephrase environments, allowing relational and fluid identities room to unfold.
A central starting point in his work is a care for the abject. The overlooked, forgotten, and cast out, as both an ethical and aesthetic foundation.
Access Information
Warehouse9 has level free entrance to the space and a gender neutral accessible toilet that can be accessed via a certified stairlift.
All events at Warehouse9 are considered “relaxed”. We operate with a safer space policy and ask that you orientate yourself upon entry to the space.

Solstice Walk: Daydreams and Sanctuaries
Welcome to a solstice walk where we explore the surroundings of Damhussøen as a poetic mirror: when we allow ourselves to be moved by our surroundings, they become reflections of our inner landscapes — and vice versa. Inspired by Gaston Bachelard’s The Poetics of Space and the ongoing project Daydream Dialogues, Peter Vadim invites you to discover and create temporary sanctuaries — spaces that open up for reflection, intimacy, and community.
Along the walk, we will:
- Draw inspiration from the stories of the site: From the Bronze Age burial mound at Skjulhøj (once located near Skjulhøj Allé) to medieval findings and architectural traces that reveal the area’s transformation.
- Explore materials and sensations: How can a stone, a shadow, a sound, or a found object become a sanctuary? Participants are encouraged to build, discover, or imagine small spaces where one can sit and daydream.
- Take part in daydream exercises: We will pause along the route to listen, draw, write, or simply be.
The walk is an open invitation to see the city with new eyes. Come as you are, and together we can create poetic pauses within public space.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Time: 21:45–22:45
Meeting point: Damhuskanten Café, Damhussøen (please meet us 10 minutes early)
Participation: Open to all ages and abilities. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Language: Danish/English depending on the group — notes will be in English.

Please wear clothes that can get a little dirty.
