Vanløse KulTour 2026

Warehouse9 is a part of KulTour 2026 – the day where Vanøse’s local culture actors open up their studios, venues, shops etc.
It will be a day with a full programme of open workshops, performances, music, tours, and talks.

Choose one or maybe all of the places and take a KulTour around the entire district – for both children and adults.

Warehouse9 presents: A talk by Niels Bjørn, Urbanist, Ph.D.

Niels Bjørn will lead a talk on how art and culture bind people and urban neighborhoods together by creating experiences, identity, and meeting places.

“A neighborhood like the Skjulhøj district contains a mix of buildings that has made it suitable for cultural environments, which have found space here for their activities and for creating a vibrancy that the city would otherwise lack. The City of Copenhagen’s work with ‘creative zones’ has been absolutely crucial for this to happen.

Now, Copenhagen’s success as a city is so overwhelming that there is a risk of cultural and artistic qualities being pushed out.

We have seen this happen in other neighborhoods in Copenhagen, and with that experience and knowledge, we know that unless we take active steps to preserve and look after these special environments, they will disappear.

When culture is pushed out of the city, we all lose something vital.

The question is how we can work with urban development without losing the special qualities of the creative zone, the Skjulhøj district, and without the creative entrepreneurs and environments disappearing.”

Niels Bjørn is an independent urban strategic advisor for municipalities across the country. He works particularly with socially balanced cities and how we can create cities that function well for people and have room for everyone, regardless of differences in age, gender, culture, and class. Niels Bjørn’s latest book, Det menneskelige habitat, gathers research from around the world on how we best secure human cities, urban spaces, and neighborhoods. Niels Bjørn, along with a small editorial group, is also the force behind the podcast BYLYD, which since 2014 has produced podcast series on architecture and urban development.
